First Appointment

Your first visit will be an initial orthodontic examination and consultation. We place a lot of emphasis on the initial consultation as this is where we get the opportunity to carefully listen and discuss with you how you feel about your teeth and general appearance, exactly what you wish to achieve and why. We will also discuss the physical effect your teeth are having on your day to day life and may assess the general condition and position of your teeth, bones and other structures of the mouth in order to recommend options for treatment. We may also take diagnostic records e.g X-Rays, photographs and impressions.

Our objective is to make sure your visit to us will be pleasant and informative.

Missed Appointment

If for any reason you cannot make it to your appointment, please contact beforehand to rearrange.

Emergency situations in orthodontic treatment are very rare indeed. In the unlikely event of a genuine emergency occurring outside normal hours whilst under orthodontic treatment (and this does not include events such as having a loose bracket), please contact your own dentist or your local emergency dental services. NHS 111.

If you break an appliance, or have a problem with it, please contact the relevant practice above or telephone as soon as you can during normal hours. We will see you as soon as we can (usually the same day) to relieve any pain, remove problem appliance parts and if possible repair the appliance. Failing this, we will make you another appointment as soon as possible to repair the appliance. In the meantime though, if any parts of your brace feel sharp, place some of the wax we have given you over these parts to stop them rubbing.

To relieve discomfort in the first few days of wearing your appliance, your normal simple pain relief tablets can be taken.
